my life lately has been: little sleep, working too much on my bands, and chain-smoking these. |

I met up with my girlfriend after work on Monday. While we were having a smoke outside of the Eaton Centre, this tall, lanky, emo kid with nasty snot green hair shows up, asking people for an extra smoke. Everyone he asked said that they didn't have any and next thing we know, he spots us smoking our pretentious clove cigarettes and begins to approach us. "Excuse me, do any of you have an extra cigarette?" Not his exact words, but what's more important is my reply: "Nah, we don't have any emo smokes. Sorry." Hurrr. Emo kid stood around for awhile, probably trying to think of a witty reply, and then... just wandered around before leaving with his friend. I should stop being a smartass! |

It's make or break time! I've finally stopped playing video games to record music again and I'm pretty sure what I'm gonna do. I've decided that I'm gonna concentrate on my Japanese rock band, Hoshi Furu. Maria (vocals) and I (guitar) are gonna finish recording what we have, send a 4 song demo to a record label, and then play some shows during the summer.
I know I formed a hardcore band awhile ago (Jorge Wants to be Hardcore), but there's really nothing new you can do in the hardcore scene now, in my opinion. Everything's been done before. Everything being released in the hardcore scene right now is just the same old shit or the same old shit being played well. I mean, hardcore is a lot of fun and all, but what can you do -- as a musician -- when there's no more room to improve the scene and the genre? Also, my heart's waaay more into Hoshi Furu and my "solo project", Hello, Apocalypse!.
Anyway, after the recording process for Hoshi Furu (and maybe Hello, Apocalypse!), we have to find a solid line-up so that we don't play anymore shitty shows like last year. Finding a bassist shouldn't be a problem since I know a number of people who play bass well. The first person is Hoshi Furu's ex-bassist, Roma, who can handle the parts well and we also get along with him so band chemistry shouldn't be a problem. Another candidate is a friend of mine from college and if all things fails, I could always ask my brother, couldn't I? As for a keyboardist... I don't know yet.
I hope this all goes as planned since I'm tired of my "career" right now and I really feel that I should be doing something else, i.e. music. I don't care if the record label rejects us, as long as one person buys the finished EP or people enjoy our shows in the summer... I'd say we deed it, mayun! |

The recording process has begun for HOSHI★FURU! Maria and I are going to record five or six songs for an EP and I'm thinking of maybe putting three or four samples on our MySpace and then sell the whole EP for $5, haha. I'll probably end up just giving away copies for free just to get our music out there though.
With the help of a few friends, we'll have CD artwork and also gang vocals for the more hardcore inspired songs, haha. I can't wait to record the gang vocals... gonna be funny, for sure. We're thinking of getting a few friends with us in a studio to shout random crap like "GAYCORE" into a mic, haha. We also have a retarded idea for a music video for one of our really retarded songs.
People give up on things too easily and only remember the bad things that happened in what they decided to take to part in...
Anyway, I'm listening to "Best of My Love" by the Emotions and smoking clove cigarettes. Good times. We'll start recording vocals for あなた~。。。は世界中のとても嫌いもの~ tomorrow morning. :) |
